mizuno t22 wedges 100x70 - Mizuno Updates T-Series Wedges With T22

Mizuno wedges are not widely known as being among the most popular in the golf equipment market, but for a brand who are famed for the looks, feel and precision of their irons, is it time that more golfers took them into consideration?

The new T22 wedges are the latest in their line of teardrop wedges, which have been developed hand in hand with formed World Number One and short game expert Luke Donald.

Mizuno says that the T22 refines the ‘players shape’ again and sees the introduction of four different sole grinds to suit golfers with different techniques, playing in different conditions.

The wedges are Grain Flow Forged using HD Boron at Mizuno’s facility in Hiroshima, and they feature a microlayer of copper beneath the nickel chrome, to deliver an extra split-second of control at impact.

The T22 also sees a new slightly more compact, ‘modified teardrop’ profile with a bevelled top edge which makes it appear to be even thinner. The spin weighted blade design, which is created by tapering the top portion of the blade, helps to create more consistent spin and a more penetrating flight.

I’d look at the T22 as a great balance between the ultra-classic looks of the older T7 and the performance traits of the T20. We’ve managed to bevel the top edge in a way to retain the performance of the T20’s tapered blade. But keep the more traditional look of the T7. Both models had a following for very different reasons.

HydroFlow Micro Grooves are designed to perform excellently in wet weather as they are laser etched to release moisture and avoid spin drop-off.

The grooves are Quad Cut, milled, and loft specific to offer a longer and more effective lifespan.

Expanded grind options include:

S Grind – with minimal sole grind for fuller shots and lower lofts

The T22 wedges are available in three different finishes: Denim Copper, Satin Chrome and Raw. The Raw finish comes without the copper underlay, but will rust over time as is the look requested by many Mizuno tour players.
